Today we’re going to talk about something that is a challenge for everyone !!
We all know how hard it is to keep a tidy house when you have kids. It doesn’t matter how old they are, they manage to have stuff everywhere. And no matter what you do, you cannot keep it picked up and at some point you just kind of let that ride for a bit. But when you get to a point where you would like to periodically have the things put away, doing it all yourself really is no fun. So enlisting the help of your family is really valuable and can be done with a few simple tips or tricks.
You should always frame out the time of cleaning up as “we are a team, I don’t clean up and you watch“ even your husband is involved. You all are cleaning up. and the second thing is keeping it short and sweet, so don’t try to do a huge deep straightening up and enlist everyone’s help for hours. Because especially when your kids are small, that’s not gonna happen. But at the end of the night, where all the toys have been taken out and there are bins of Legos dumped everywhere, you shouldn’t pick all that up.
So what you can do, is, for example, pick a clean up song, or something that your kids find more fun, and then start cleaning by telling them what you want them to do and how to do it. Sometimes even showing them that being very specific like “you go put the balls away“, “you go pick the Legos in the bin“ and keep it short and sweet, and if they finish that task then tell them the next one and so in a very short amount of time you can get the house kind of picked up. It’s not necessarily a cleaning thing it’s straightening and kind of cluttering everything thing.
Another thing you can use, is, for example, telling them at dinner “ hey so tonight we’re gonna do and everything is awesome ! “ and then everyone goes off and moans and groans, but when the music comes, and especially when you put it on repeat, not just one time. So the song goes, maybe two or three times through the song and you’ll get everything picked up.
So that’s one little small tip to try at home to clean up things at the end of the day, so you aren’t doing all of it. And making sure that it’s framed out as teamwork and then everybody’s participating and has specific jobs.
